The Black Women Professionals League (BWPL) is a dynamic network dedicated to empowering and elevating Black women professionals who are excelling in their respective fields while actively working to create change in their communities. Our 40 of 40 Induction & Awards program recognizes 40 trailblazing Black women in Chicago who exemplify leadership, innovation, and a commitment to social impact.

BWPL is more than just an honor—it’s an opportunity to connect, grow, and lead with a powerful community of Black women professionals who are shaping industries and communities alike. As a BWPL Inductee, you don’t just receive an award—you become part of a movement.

What’s New?
 The 40 of 40 initiative has evolved to focus on impact over age, ensuring that Black women who are thriving in their professions and seeking to expand their influence as social change agents are recognized and connected to a like-minded sisterhood. Being “1 of 1” typically means that there is only one instance or unique version of something. It can refer to a limited edition item, a custom creation, or a singular occurrence that sets it apart from others. That’s what our 40 of 40 represents. 40 of the most impactful 40 Black women professionals in Chicago. We believe that excellence knows no age, and by embracing this change, we aim to shine a brighter spotlight on the phenomenal achievements of Black women professionals in Chicago. 

Key Changes:
No Age Cap: Open to professional Black women aged 28 and older who are making a tangible impact.
Emphasis on Impact: We’re shifting our focus to highlight not just age but impact. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an emerging leader, if your contributions have made a difference, we want to celebrate you!

Inductee Commitment

BWPL is a space for collaborative leadership and social impact. As a Member, each inductee will:
 ✅ Pay an Annual Membership Fee to sustain BWPL’s mission.
 ✅ Engage & Support BWPL Programming that uplifts and empowers Black women professionals.
 ✅ Participate in BWPL Social Impact Initiatives aligned with our mission to create lasting change.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to Black women professionals residing in the metropolitan Chicagoland area.
  • Must be 28 years of age or older as of September 30, 2025.
  • Nominees should demonstrate career excellence, leadership, and a commitment to social impact.

1) How has your nominee made a positive impact as a professional/entrepreneur?
2) What role does your nominee play in impacting their community?

Nominations OPEN April 1, 2025. Entry form will be removed after June 15, 2025.
